The Range Rover Velar’s most common problems

1. Infotainment system problems

One of the most frequently reported problems by Range Rover Velar owners revolves around the infotainment system.

Users have encountered various issues, such as the screen freezing, not responding to touch, or turning black unexpectedly.

Some owners have also complained about the system lagging, which can be frustrating, especially when trying to navigate through menus or switch between apps.

To address these problems, it is recommended to ensure that your infotainment system is up to date with the latest software version. This can often resolve software-related bugs and compatibility issues.

Additionally, performing a reset of the media system by holding the power button for a few seconds can sometimes help in resolving minor glitches.

2. Door handle problems

Another common problem faced by Range Rover Velar owners is related to the door handles.

Some users have reported issues with the door handles not functioning properly, including difficulty in opening or closing the doors.

This can be particularly inconvenient and may require immediate attention.

The door handle problems in the Range Rover Velar can be caused by a lack of lubrication within the mechanism or a faulty sensor.

In some cases, the handles may also get stuck or fail to retract, preventing the doors from closing properly.

To resolve these issues, it is advisable to take your vehicle to an authorized Range Rover service center, where trained technicians can address the problem and ensure that the door handles are functioning correctly.

3. Battery drain overnight

Several Range Rover Velar owners have reported instances of their vehicle’s battery draining overnight.

Waking up to a dead battery can be a frustrating experience, especially if it happens frequently.

The cause of this problem can vary, but it is often related to a parasitic draw or a faulty electrical component.

To avoid battery drain issues, it is crucial to ensure that all lights and accessories are turned off before leaving the vehicle.

Additionally, if you notice that your battery is frequently running low, it is recommended to have it tested to identify any underlying issues.

A Land Rover Range Rover dealership or a qualified auto electrician can assist you in diagnosing and resolving battery drain problems.

Brake light switch failure

Another common problem encountered by Range Rover Velar owners is a brake light switch failure.

This issue can result in brake lights not functioning correctly, which can pose a safety hazard while driving.

Some owners have reported having their brake lights continuously lit, while others have experienced them not working at all.

If you encounter issues with your brake lights, it is essential to have them inspected by a professional.

A faulty brake light switch may need to be replaced to ensure the proper functioning of the lights and adherence to road safety regulations.

  1. My 6 mo. old 2023 RR Velar is experiencing oddities with the infotainment system. I have had the screen black out issue where the dealer said they updated and reset the system. A persistent problem has been the appearance of the 4X4 drive train in the center stack along with LIM and symbol lights on. Nothing seems to turn off the LIM indicator nor 4X4 drive train picture when the car is running. Turn the car off; wait a couple hours and all seems to be normal again until the next recurrence. – Dallas

    • Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issues you’ve been experiencing with your 2023 RR Velar’s infotainment system.

Sounds like it might be a progrommatic fault. Usually a hard reset solves the issue, as per my model in the past. I would be interested to know have you emailed or contacted Land Rover direct to see if they can fix it? It sounds more like a technical issue rather than something that can be quick fixed.

      Please, let me know!
