Land Rover Maintenance & Repair Costs

As a Range Rover owner and a mechanic, I know firsthand the joys and sorrows of owning this luxury SUV.

Everyday driving and maintenance can become a somewhat challenging task, especially when it comes to keeping your Range Rover running smoothly and efficiently.

One of the biggest concerns I’ve experienced with owning a Range Rover is the cost of maintenance.

So, in this article, I will be sharing my knowledge and experience on Range Rover maintenance cost.

What models are affected?

What are the average maintenance costs for a Range Rover?

When purchasing a luxury SUV, like a Range Rover, you expect high maintenance costs.

According to industry averages, the cost to maintain a Range Rover could range from $800 to $1200 annually, depending on the model and year of the vehicle.

The breakdown of the cost includes regular oil changes, brake pads replacements, tire rotations, and other minor repairs.

Major Repairs and Costs

Like any vehicle, Range Rovers are vulnerable to wear and tear and require occasional major repairs.

For example, replacing a transmission on a Range Rover could cost $4000 or more, and replacing an engine could run up to tens of thousands of dollars.

These high repair costs are something to consider when purchasing a Range Rover, although proper maintenance and avoiding wear and tear could mitigate the odds of major repairs.

Probability of Repairs and Time

The probability of repairs gradually increases as the vehicle ages. During the first years of service, maintenance repairs are less common.

However, as a Range Rover owner, you’ll have to face increased repair needs as the vehicle approaches 100,000 miles.

Over time, the cost of maintenance will increase due to the need for major repairs. The chart below illustrates the costs of maintenance and repairs for a Range Rover over time.

How do Range Rover maintenance costs compare to other luxury SUV models?

In comparison to other luxury SUV models, Range Rover maintenance costs are relatively high.

However, the maintenance costs for other luxury SUV models, like Lexus and BMW, are not far behind.

If you’re considering purchasing a luxury SUV, I suggest researching the model’s average maintenance costs extensively.

You’ll want to factor in the cost of maintenance before making such a significant investment.

What are some common Range Rover maintenance issues?

Like any vehicle, the Range Rover is far from immune to issues that require maintenance. One common problem is the air suspension system.

It is a great feature for maintaining an adjustable ground clearance.

However, the addition of an adjustable suspension system can come with potential malfunctions and failures resulting in costly repairs.

Another common issue is electrical problems that can stem from any of the computer systems installed. These issues can be frustrating, and they often come at limited warning.
