When should a Range Rover’s brake fluid be replaced?

As a Range Rover owner and mechanic who has dealt with multiple Range Rover models over the years, I can’t help but chuckle at the irony of writing about the topic of reliability in relation to Range Rovers.

Nonetheless, it’s important to address questions like “When should a Range Rover’s brake fluid be replaced?”.

What models are affected?

When to replace

The general recommendation for replacing brake fluid in a Range Rover is every two years.

Signs and symptoms it’s time for a replacement

It’s difficult to pinpoint specific signs and symptoms of brake fluid that needs to be replaced.

It’s not the kind of thing that will cause the check engine light to come on or cause noticeable performance issues.

A good indication that it’s time for a brake fluid replacement is if it’s been two years since the last time it was done.

There are no specific OBD codes that relate to when brake fluid should be replaced.

What can happen if not replaced

If brake fluid is not replaced in a timely manner, it can become contaminated with moisture and other debris, which can lead to corrosion in the brake system.
